RNS Director Professor Rainer Kattel receives Estonian National Science Award

On 14 February 2013 the Government of the Republic of Estonia announced the nominees of the annual National Science Awards. In the field of social sciences the award was given to RNS Director Professor Rainer Kattel for his series of research papers on innovation and economic policies in Central and Eastern Europe in 2000s.

The nominees for the annual award are selected based on their research and publications over the previous four years. The award (20 000 eur) will be officially handed over on Estonian Independence Day (24 February). The nominees in other science fields can be seen here and the summary of Prof. Kattel’s award decision here (all in Estonian).

Professor Kattel is the second RNS scholar ever to receive the Estonian National Science Award. In 1997 the same award was given to Professor Wolfgang Drechsler for his work “Johann Ulrich von Cramer and the demonstrative method in jurisprudence”.
