Open seminar on US presidential elections&Congress
On November 8th 17.00 the Department of Public Administration will host an open seminar by Prof. Thad Hall from University of Utah in room X-426 on the topic "Policy-Making in the US Congress, Looking Back, Looking Forward". Prof. Hall's primary research is in the area of public administration and public policy, with a focus on election administration and policy development in legislatures. He has authored or co-authored five books, most recently, Electronic Elections: The Perils and Promise of Digital Democracy (Princeton University Press) and Abortion Politics in Congress: Strategic Incrementalism and Policy Change (Cambridge University Press). He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Georgia and an MPA from Georgia State University.
As a specialist on election administration, Prof. Hall will be one of the opponents of Robert Krimmer’s PhD defense "The Evolution of E-voting: Why voting Technology is Used and How it Affects Democracy" (supervisor Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Drechsler, other co-opponent Prof. Dr. Ülle Madise), which takes place on November 9th 11.00 in room X-211A.
On November 6th 2012, Prof. Hall was featured in an article by the Washington Post, in which he discusses the success of Estonia's experience with e-voting.
