The latest issue of Eurokratt, the magazine of the
Representation of the European Commission in Estonia, includes a feature story
on TUT Technology Governance professor Carlota Perez. Author Liina Ristoja discusses a variety of topics
with Perez, including how she first became interested in the relationship
between financial capital and technology about 4 decades ago as well as her
role in developing the TUT Technology Governance MA program over the years.
Professor Perez received the Best Teacher’s Award of TUT Faculty of Social
Sciences in 2008, and her book “Technological Revolutions and Financial Capital: The
Dynamics of Bubbles and Golden Ages”, although already from 2002, is one of the top
business and economics sellers on amazon.com. Professor Perez points out that the Technology
Governance MA program is “entirely unique” in Europe, being the only one that “observes
technology management on a higher level”. She also talks about the MA program
introductory course „Technical Change and Techno-Economic Paradigms“ which she
just finished teaching for the 6th time at
TUT, pointing out the exciting class room discussions involving students “from
engineers to sociologists”. The full version (in Estonian) of the article can be
accessed through the web page of Representation of the European
Commission in Estonia (pp 14-15) and the previous issues of Eurokratt can be
read here. The Technology Governance program is
supported by the European Social Fund, among others.
