Ragnar Nurkse School of Innovation and Governance is in the final round, with just 30 other European research institutions in all areas of science, of the Horizon2020 large-scale Teaming program.
The project, conceived and written by PhD student Ralf-Martin Soe and led by Prof. Rainer Kattel, is about practical and theoretical Smart City development and co-operation between Tallinn and Helsinki. To develop the final call, the project will receive between a quarter and half a million euros; the projects (5-6) reaching the final round are worth well more than ten million.
The new Teaming instrument is intended to help improve research performance and increase investment in countries with lower research excellence rankings. Teaming is an important part of the EU's effort to unlock Europe's potential in research and innovation. Eligible Member States under Teaming include all those that joined the EU after 2004, plus Portugal and Luxembourg, as well as eight non-EU countries associated with Horizon 2020. Teaming will help them to start new collaborations, build new scientific networks and seize new market opportunities.
