On 23 September 2014 Professor Rainer Kattel of the TUT Ragnar Nurkse School of Innovation and Governance was elected to the Board of Governors of TTU. As of September 2014 he is also the Vice-Chairman of the Evaluation Committee of the Estonian Research Council.
